Looking for adventure?

Join the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) and Lummi Natural Resources (LNR) to tour project sites along the Nooksack River! This expedition will include a shuttle ride, a boat ride, and some short hikes for an in-depth look at riparian restoration, mitigation, and our combined salmon recovery efforts.
Meet us at the Lummi Indian Business Council (LIBC) located at 2665 Kwina Rd, Bellingham, WA 98226 at 9 AM on Saturday, September 21st for an introductory presentation. Then we will shuttle everyone to a riparian restoration site for a walkthrough of one of our riverbank planting projects. From there, we will jump on a boat to continue our tour of the Lummi Nation Wetland & Habitat Mitigation Bank. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy, close-toed shoes with good traction (we recommend hiking boots, if you have them - no sandals!). Bring a water bottle, a sack lunch if you wish, and all your questions!

RSVP required. Please contact Megan at Madams@n-sea.org if you would like to attend but may not have transportation to LIBC.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE YOU REGISTER

This tour will include a boat ride led by experienced LNR boat operators through the Nooksack River delta, which can have large woody debris and shallow sand bars. Life vests will be provided, but feel free to bring your own USCG-approved PFD in full working order.

This tour will also include 3-4 short hikes through project sites (about one mile or less each) in terrain with uneven ground, fallen woody debris, a few steep slopes, slippery ground, etc.

To participate, we recommend that you feel comfortable stepping in and out of a boat, riding in a boat, stepping on/over logs, and walking up/down short but steep slopes and slippery ground. Wear weather-appropriate clothes and sturdy, close-toed shoes with good traction (hiking boots are recommended, if you have them – no sandals!).

If you have allergies to bug stings, please bring your field remedy to be used if needed.

You will be asked to fill out a participant waiver after you register in order to participate in this event. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend.
