The Giving Tree Project
Help plant trees across Whatcom County
Kids Art for Climate Justice (KACJ) is an organization founded by a mother-daughter team. Their goal is to positively impact climate justice while building community and inspiring creativity and expression.
They believe when youth feel a sense of belonging and engagement in their community, along with pride and hope, their vitality and resilience strengthen.
Help plant trees through the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association while supporting youth in expressing their feelings through creativity and positive action! Show Kids They Can Make A Difference!
Last year KACJ created a beautiful large, sculpted Giving Tree! Over 100 kids in Bellingham, guided by three awesome artist mentors, helped create it. It has been displayed at various venues around Whatcom County, raising money to plant trees.
Currently, Kids Art for Climate Justice focuses on making smaller, wall-mounted and lightweight Giving Trees, which are beautifully designed tree-shaped sculptures created by youth and artist mentors.
Their goal is to help place a Giving Tree in as many businesses, centers, and community organizations as possible!

NSEA believes salmon are essential to our environment, culture, and economy, nourishing ecosystems and supporting communities for generations. Western colonization has significantly altered the rivers and streams they rely on, and restoring these habitats takes time, effort, and cooperation. Patience, dedication, and collective action are essential to the recovery of wild salmon.
For the past 34 years, NSEA has been an active participant in this recovery.
Together with our community, we've planted over 470,000 trees and shrubs, hosted more than 1,300 volunteer work parties, removed 173 fish passage barriers, and inspired over 34,000 student scientists.
Our vision is clear: healthy watersheds that sustain abundant salmon.
Our mission is steadfast: to engage our community to recover wild salmon for future generations.
And our work is guided by our values-integrity, gratitude, diversity, hopefulness, and sustainability.
